Barrow Raiders made it 2 wins from 2 in Pre season warm ups, with warm up being the term used to describe what most of the players were having to do after the game.
Players Shivering, Thermal Blankets and even ambulance crews treating players with symptoms of hypothermia, not what you would expect following a gruelling 80mins of Rugby.

Oldham thought they had taken the lead when a prod forward by David Hewitt was picked up by Matt Reid only to have it ruled out by the officials for offside.

Barrow soon however burst into life, Former Oldham man Jamie Dallimore kicked the ball forward with Lewis Charnock taking advantage of the ball rebounding back off the foot of the post to go over for a welcomed try and conversion. 6-0 Raiders

Soon after that it was 10-0, a good break down the right from Charnock eventually came to man of the match Declan Hulme who went over to add to the score, Charnock this time however found the kick too much of a challenge, failing to convert.

Oldham who were relegated from the Championship last season and are considered one of the favourites to come straight back up then fought back in to the game. Phil Joy going over the line after some good work by Kenny Hughes, Paul Crook added the conversion to reduce the deficit to just 4pts (10-6 half time)

The 2nd Half was just a challenge in itself, Rain continued to pour creating a mud bath of the pitch at JF Hornby Stadium.

Raiders were able to give a debut to new Aussie Signing Dean Parata as well as give returns to Ryan Duffy and Matty Holmes who both missed last season through injury.

It was the Latter who created the best move of the 2nd half, Holmes wrestled clear after a great move on the right hand side, he released Hulme who made no mistake going over between the posts to extend the Raiders advantage. Charnock made no mistake with the kick this time and the game was as good as won.

After the game Raiders Boss Paul Crarey speaking to SportZone’s Grahame Dale was left scratching his head at he damage the game had done to his side with injuries picked up and also players being treat for hypothermia but was delighted with the effort his team gave.

Next up for Barrow Raiders is a repeat of Last Season’s Play Off Final when Barrow take on Whitehaven in the Final Warm Up before the season kicks off on the 4th of February at London
