About Radio Lonsdale

Frequently Asked Questions

Could Radio Lonsdale help me get a job on a professional radio station?

Potentially, but you need the right attitude, a lot of talent, and a little luck. Hospital Radio is ideal training ground for getting into the radio industry and several of our past radio presenters have since worked on local stations including Lakeland Radio, The Bay and Abbey FM.

Do you broadcast commentary of Barrow football matches?

Not at present. This was always a popular part of Radio Lonsdale services but it was labour intensive, requiring commentators and engineers at each game, as well as a radio presenter to introduce the programme and remain at the studio throughout the broadcast.

How can I receive Radio Lonsdale?

In any public area of Furness General Hospital it is available on channel 6. At the bedside on the Patientline system you can find us on channel 1.

Would you like some old vinyl records?

No because we already own over 20,000 tracks including every Number One hit from 1952-92. Also, we much prefer to use CDs, which are smaller, easier to use, and offer greater sound quality.
