Radio Lonsdale was out in force to support the annual K2B event, in what’s becoming our traditional broadcast location – the beer tent! This year we were on hand all day providing musical entertainment, shout-outs to the walkers (and runners!) and giving PA announcements throughout.
Hopefully we provided a cheerful celebration for those who completed the full 40+ miles.
Once again we broadcast the event live to Furness General Hospital using our 4G streaming link and provided our patients with over three hours of live entertainment. Radio Lonsdale also provided entertainment for the crowds as well as catching a few words with some of the walkers as they completed the K2B, and various fund raisers.
Thanks to all of our remote venue team who put in a long shift, from 8am until 6pm, to support this wonderful local event, ensuring that those stuck in hospital managed to get a glimpse of this year’s walk.
It takes some time to set up for an event this size. The first job is to set up the desk equipment followed by the long job of pulling the lengthy cable runs between our amplifiers and outside speakers. Thankfully this year the weather was great and we didn’t need bin bags to protect our equipment from the heavy rain seen in recent years!
An early priority is to get the 4G communications link up and running, so that our engineering team can resolve any problems before we go on air. After all, although the publicity is important to the station, the live broadcasts to our patients are the No.1 priority for the charity.
Thanks also to our regular studio anchor for live broadcasts, Dave Concannon, who ensures that they go out trouble free to our patients.
Our sincere appreciation also goes to the K2B organisation team who this year made the Radio Lonsdale team especially welcome, a relationship that is now building year on year.
Another successful Radio Lonsdale LIVE Broadcast – hopefully enjoyed by all!
